Welcome to second grade! I am excited to teach a great group of students this year. We are going to have a great year learning and making friends. We also have the addition of having a student teacher this year. Ms. Kennedy will be with us until the end of November. So far this year we have been learning strategies to add and subtract, and place value with even and odd numbers. In reading we are using Imagine It! and completing our first unit on Kindness. During this unit we have been reading stories about kindness and working with long vowel sounds and spellings. We are also writing narratives. In social studies we are learning about communities and citizenship. In science we are learning about life cycles and we are lucky enough to have just received some Painted Lady caterpillars that we will watch turn into butterflies! It is going to be a great year!
