Welcome to the Kingdom of Wonder!
Mrs. R. Morris - 1st grade teacher
Ms. Benton - 1st grade assistant
We are both ready for a WONDERful year!
Welcome to Room 3 ! My name is Rachelle Morris. I have been teaching for around 14 years now and all in first grade. I have previous experience teaching High School English along with computer room work in middle school. I was born in Salisbury NC, but graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I settled for several years in the Shenandoah Valley before finally moving back to North Carolina in 2010.
I enjoy the world of education and everything it can offer your children. I'm quite eager to see what they know and add more to it! I have a great deal of books in the classroom library to give you children every oppurtunity to explore their world through literature, both non-fiction and fiction. Reading is such a powerful tool and I can't wait to equip them with it.
Please remember that your child starts working as SOON as they walk into the room in the morning (journals and practice reading). If they are tardy frequently then they will be behind each and every day. Help make sure they are ready to work as soon as they enter the classroom. Thanks!
Pleae please PLEASE make sur eyou child has their book(s) in their take home folder every day. We need to reread these each day and add more. There are still SEVERAL books misisng from the classroom. Please do your best and try to return those as quick as you can! J
We still have recess OUTSIDE even during the winter weather. Please make sure you child has a good coat or jacket ( not just a sweatshirt), so that they can go outside and play with our class and enjoy the brisk air. Thanks so much J
Winter Celebration J
On December 20th we will have a winter ( winter themed only ) celebration. We will share about snowflakes and read about gingerbread men. If you would like to send in a snack for us to enjoy that day , please let me know. Some items we could use are :
Cupcakes, cookies, chips, drinks, plates, cups etc. Thanks! J
The fifth grade will be having a fundraiser on Fridays. They will sell lollipops on Fridays at school. The cost will be 1 dollar. Only $1 for a lollipop to help send our Fifth graders to their annual trip to Washington DC> If you would like for your child to purchase one, please send in the money on Fridays.
We could still use some pencils and baby wipes for our classroom supplies. We are out of each. Thanks in advance if you are able to donate for our class. J
WINTER BREAK will occur from December 21st- January 1st. There will be NO SCHOOL during this time. Enjoy your winter vacation! J
