Hello Everyone! Welcome to Speech-Language Therapy! I am very excited to see all my returning students and meet new ones as well. We are going to have a great year in speech this year.
My students are working hard to meet goals in the areas of articulation, fluency, voice, and/or language. Children are seen in small groups in the therapy room and throughout the total school environment to encourage development of speech-language skills and carryover of these skills in daily living situations.
I collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and parents to provide students when developing goals and activities for each individual student. I want to show the children I work with how increasing their speech-language skills can help them in their school and home environment. I pull stories, vocabulary, and concepts from the common core curriculum in order to support what is being taught in the classroom setting. I am also using our Bulldog P.O.W.E.R. plan and Rachel's challenge ideas to prepare therapy activities.
Lastly, I am a firm believer that learning should be fun! I love to incorporate student interests such as favorite music , sports, and hobbies into therapy activities. One of the most rewarding things I can hear from a student is, "That didn't feel like work. We just had fun today!"
So....let's have a successful, fun-filled year at Mineral Springs Elementary!
