Welcome to Ms. Hicks' Second Grade!!!

My name is Ryan Hicks and I am privileged to be your child's teacher for the 2012-2013 school year.  This is my seventh year teaching at Sedge Garden Elementary.  I graduated from Appalachian State University and have a B.A. in Elementary Education (K-6). I recently completed my Master's degree. Working with me as your child's Primary Reading teacher is Mrs. Carolyn Flynt, a veteran teacher. The children will recognize her familiar face from the School Store. She will be a great asset to our class.

I am very excited about this year and getting to know all of the children and how they learn. I truly believe that every child can and will learn and that it is my job to figure out how to make learning happen for your child. This year we will be focusing on many things but most importantly on how to be successful in all that we do.

I have wanted to teach ever since I can remember and am living my dream and loving every minute of it!! I recently got engaged this summer while vacationing at Captiva Island in Florida and couldn't be happier! We will be getting married at Tanglewood on August 17 and are already counting down the days!! In my spare time, I enjoy scrapbooking, shopping, reading, running, spending time with friends and family and spending time at the beach and lake. I am looking foward to a wonderful year filled with lots of fun and learning!
