What is the difference between a blue and green zone?
With the opening of Flat Rock Middle and Kimmel Farm Elementary in the fall of 2009, the Board of Education approved plans to modify the zone choices for the schools in those zones. Instead of having 4 schools in a zone for middle and 6 for elementary, the Board created a Southwest ‘Blue’ and a Southwest ‘Green’, along with a respective Zone 8 ‘Blue’ and Zone 8 ‘Green’. Zone 8 Green ( res to Easton Konnoak Griffith) can choose Kimmel Farm and Ward with transportation.
The colors referenced match those of the choice cards for students in the residential areas.
Zone 8 Green ( res to Easton Konnoak Griffith) can choose Kimmel Farm and Ward with transportation.Zone 8 Blue ( res to Clemmons Ward Kimmel Farm) can choose Griffith and Konnoak with transportation.Zone 8 Green can't choose Clemmons. Zone 8 Blue can't choose Easton.
Zone 8 Green wanting Clemmons must do out of zone transfer, but will not have transportation.
Zone 8 Blue wanting Easton must do out of zone transfer, but will not have transportation.

Out of Zone Transfer Information 2013-2014April 8-17: If you're interested in a school outside of your zone, now is the time to apply. There must be space available and you must provide your own transportation. You'll receive your assignment by mail around April 23
